A Milonga event is an Argentine Tango party, where tango dancers meet up to dance, to socialize, listen to the music, and have a good time. Throughout decades of tango history, milongas developed a set of codes, “codigos” or milonga etiquette, with a purpose to provide a pleasant dancing experience while avoiding embarrassing, awkward, or unsafe situations on the dance floor. For example, dance invitations are made using mirada and cabeceo from a comfortable distance. On the dance floor the dancers stay in the line of dance, called ronda, and all progress in a counterclockwise direction. The movements are safe and compact for the couple and dancers around them. Music in a milonga is structured with “tandas”, 3 or 4 songs played by the same orchestra, and “cortinas” - a short piece of non-tango music signaling the end of the tanda and the time to thank your partner and find a new one. Milonga etiquette is taught in our Argentine Tango class offerings to help you prepare for your first Milonga.

The Answers You Need
DO I NEED A PARTNER?
No you do not need a partner for any of our services. Our qualified instructors are trained to teach the individual as well as couples instruction.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN?
Like with any skill, it depends on the frequency and quality in which you practice. The more often and consistent you do it, the faster you’ll see results. Your personal goals are a factor too. Professional and social dancers train differently. If you choose to compete, then you will experience exciting and rigorous training. We must warn you though, competitions can be very addictive and are offered at any dance level/age!
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We have a-la-carte classes, packages, and memberships for purchase. Our priority is to help you find the right product that works best for you, whether that is a $12 drop-in class, a wedding package, or an all inclusive membership. Factors to consider are: how proficient you'd like to become, the types of dances you're wanting to study, and the number of days and weeks you are avaible.
WHAT IS THE FASTEST WAY TO LEARN TO DANCE?
The quickest way to learn dance is the power combination of private lessons, group lessons, and social parties. Private lessons are vital to improve the quality of your dancing along with one-on-one attention needed to prevent bad habits! Group lessons are great to build off of your private lessons, learn fun moves, and meet new people. Social parties are a must to apply your newly acquired dance moves in a social setting, and to better identify dance styles in correlation to music. TBH instructors are at every social party to dance with you, so no need to bring a partner! The perfect way to end the week.
DO I NEED SPECIAL SHOES?
You are not required to wear dance shoes, but we recommend it for your safety and ease when moving. Ballroom dance shoes are designed to protect your joints and ligaments from strain. We do however recommend to resist purchasing a pair until after your first lesson so that our knowledgeable staff can help you find the right pair for your needs.
We do not advise wearing rubber soled bottoms as it will make it harder to learn and may cause injury. Sharp heels are prohibited because they damage ballroom flooring and can cause injury.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
Above all, wear clothes that make you feel comfortable. Short dresses, strapless, and clothing that restricts your movement are not recommended. Ballroom dance shoes are definitely a must-have for anyone looking to enter the Ballroom and Latin dancing world!
