Your first lesson begins with a quick form to fill out asking for basic contact information and some dance related questions to better understand your goals. Your instructor will be providing one-on-one attention. Preceding your lesson, your Instructor will discuss in detail their recommendations of what to purchase to accommodate your budget and needs.
We specialize in all types of Ballroom and Latin Dances in both American and International styles. Learn the latest steps, social and night club dances, and competition Ballroom dance styles. Waltz, Salsa, Foxtrot, Swing, Tango, Samba, Quickstep and more!
Like with any skill, it depends on the frequency and quality in which you practice. The more often and consistent you do it, the faster you’ll see results. Your personal goals are a factor too. Professional and social dancers train differently. If you choose to compete, then you will experience exciting and rigorous training. We must warn you though, competitions can be very addictive and are offered at any dance level/age!
The quickest way to learn dance is the power combination of private lessons, group lessons, and social parties. Private lessons are vital to improve the quality of your dancing along with one-on-one attention needed to prevent bad habits! Group lessons are great to build off of your private lessons, learn fun moves, and meet new people. Social parties are a must to apply your newly acquired dance moves in a social setting, and to better identify dance styles in correlation to music. TBH instructors are at every social party to dance with you, so no need to bring a partner! The perfect way to end the week.
You are not required to wear dance shoes, but we recommend it for your safety and ease when moving. Ballroom dance shoes are designed to protect your joints and ligaments from strain. We do however recommend to resist purchasing a pair until after your first lesson so that our knowledgeable staff can help you find the right pair for your needs.
We do not advise wearing rubber soled bottoms as it will make it harder to learn and may cause injury. Sharp heels are prohibited because they damage ballroom flooring and can cause injury.
We instruct complete beginners through those dancing at a professional level. The Ballroom House staff, members, and facility provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You will feel more confident and see your dance moves improve quickly.
Simple! Contact us and we'll schedule a complementary one-on-one dance lesson for you at your preferred time.
No you do not need a partner for any of our services. Our qualified instructors are trained to teach the individual as well as couples instruction.
Above all, wear clothes that make you feel comfortable. Short dresses, strapless, big hats, and clothing that restricts your movement are not recommended. Ballroom dance shoes are definitely a must-have for anyone looking to enter the Ballroom and Latin dancing world, but if you haven't danced yet we recommend for you to purchase them after your first lesson. That way your TBH instructor can ensure you are getting the appropriate shoe!
The term “private lesson” will always refer to a one-on-one dance lesson with one of our fabulous instructors. Private lessons within a ballroom environment are customarily taught with others in the room. We love teaching our private lessons with other private lessons happening in the room, in a shared-music environment. This promotes the wonderful benefits of being in a social atmosphere, and trains the ears and body to quickly learn the various types of rhythms, movements, and sounds found within the ballroom repertoire. That being said, we actually have multiple ballrooms in our facility and are always willing to take private lessons into a more private space when requested by our patrons.
